William M. Portnoy, MD, FACS

Biography

Dr. Portnoy has been working in the New York Metropolitan area since 1993, specializing in Head and Neck Oncologic Surgery, Endocrine Surgery, Laryngology, and Reconstruction of the Head and Neck. He is a graduate of Brandeis University and The George Washington University School of Medicine. He performed his residency in Otolaryngology at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary, and completed a fellowship in Head and Neck/Reconstructive Surgery under the renowned surgeon, Sebastian Arena, MD in Pittsburgh, PA.

Dr. Portnoy has been practicing at his present location, Chelsea Ear, Nose & Throat, since January, 2004. Prior to the opening of his private office, he was one of the principal physicians at Mercer Street Medical in SoHo where he had practiced since August of 1997. His work comprises all facets of General Otolaryngology / Head and Neck Surgery, treating children and adults alike. He is presently on staff at Beth Israel Medical Center, St. Vincent's Hospital and Medical Center and The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary.

Dr. Portnoy is Board Certified in Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery as well as Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He is a member of the American Society for Head and Neck Surgery, a diplomat of the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
